Deadlock Ranked Mode Explained

What the July 30 Matchmaking Update changed: Ranked vs Standard, the 8-game calibration, rank points, loss protection, duo rules, and Season 1 dates.

6 min read/Updated 2026-09-02
Quick answer

Deadlock's July 30, 2026 Matchmaking Update added a dedicated Ranked Mode with seasons. You unlock it with 60 Standard wins and 3 ranked-eligible heroes (15 wins each), calibrate over 8 solo placement matches capped at Oracle VI, then climb at roughly 250 rank points per game — 1000 points per subrank, 2000 to cross into a new rank. Beta Season 1 ends October 7, 2026.

Standard vs Ranked

The Matchmaking Update split queues into Standard Mode (unranked, any party size, hero practice friendly) and Ranked Mode (solo or duo only, higher stakes, seasonal ranks). Your rank only moves in Ranked, which means you can play Standard freely without touching your badge.

Ranked adds a pre-game phase too: you can swap your hero once and adjust lanes before the match locks, and bans are up from 2 to 3.

Calibration and the climb

Each season starts with 8 solo-only calibration matches seeded by a soft reset of your previous standing, with Oracle VI as the highest possible exit. From there, every game moves you roughly 250 rank points: 1000 points per subrank, 2000 to break into the next rank.

Loss protection cushions the boundaries — 2 games at a subrank line, 5 games at a full rank line — so one bad night does not instantly demote you. In Eternus, thresholds switch to daily percentile gates instead of fixed points.

Duo rules and party limits

Ranked parties are capped at two players, and duo partners must be within 1 rank of each other. Eternus players can only duo with other Eternus players within 3 subranks.

That directly shapes duo boosting: pairing depends on rank proximity, and calibration games cannot be duo'd at all. Solo boosting is unaffected by the party rules.

What this means for climbing

Calibration games are now the highest-leverage matches of the season — every rank you calibrate below your level costs 6000+ points of grinding to recover. And with Beta Season 1 ending October 7, the climb window is finite: your peak rank gets stamped into your permanent rank history.

If you want the season result without the grind, the live calculator on the landing page prices any rank gap, and the roster is all verified Eternus 6 players.

FAST ANSWERS

How do I unlock Deadlock Ranked Mode?

You need 60 wins in Standard Mode and at least 3 heroes unlocked for Ranked, where each hero needs 15 Standard wins. Accounts with active sanctions cannot queue.

How many placement matches does Deadlock Ranked have?

8 calibration matches, played solo only. The system soft-resets your prior standing to seed you, and the highest rank you can exit calibration with is Oracle VI.

How many rank points do you get per game?

Around 250 points per win or loss, adjusted slightly by matchmaker expectations and streaks. A subrank is 1000 points, and crossing into a new rank takes 2000, with 2-game and 5-game loss protection at subrank and rank boundaries.

When does Deadlock Season 1 end?

Beta Season 1 started on July 30, 2026 and ends October 7, 2026. Your highest rank of the season is saved permanently to your rank history.
